Prepping Your Quilt for
Longarm Services
Below you will find the requirements for ensuring your quilt top and back are prepped properly for longarm services.
-
Your quilt top should be pressed, and all strings should be trimmed on the back of the quilt top.
-
I will do a quick press on the quilt top before loading it onto the longarm; deep creases/wrinkles may result in an additional fee. The fee for pressing excessively wrinkled quilt top is: $20.
-
If your quilt top does not have a border, ensure there is a "stay stitch" around the entire edge of the quilt. (This will help avoid unintentional seam splits). If a stay stitch is not added, there is not a guarantee that I will be able to fix the seam split if the top is already loaded on the longarm.
-
If you are providing your own batting, please make sure it is at least the same size as the backing.
-
Backing fabric MUST be as least 5" larger on all sides. Example: quilt top measures 60" x 70", so the backing will measure 70" x 80". This allows for the backing to be properly loaded with the use of the side clamps.
-
If backing is not 5" larger on all sides, there may be an additional fee for me to add material to the sides to ensure proper loading of the backing. The fee for adding material is: $15.
-
Backing should also be pressed and prepped before shipping. I will do a quick press before loading onto the longarm. If deep creases exist, I will press them out, but this may result in an additional fee. The fee for pressing excessively wrinkled backing is: $20.
-
If you have backing material but do not want to piece it, I can perform simple piecing for $15.
-
If a quilt is odorous, I reserve the right to refuse quilting it and will return to the sender.
-
Please make sure you label "top" and "bottom" of quilt top and backing if it needs to be put together in a certain way.
-
For best results, make sure your quilt top and backing are square.
-
If I run into any issues with your quilt, I will contact you via text or phone call!
